I know there is a ferry that leaves on Tuesday and Friday... I thought i read somewhere about daily trips...... Does anyone know about daily ferries from Livingston to Punta Gorda

I will be leaving Panajachel to Lanquin next month. staying at Eco Utopia. Any suggestion on good transport. And then transport from Lanquin to Rio Dulce. Any help would be appreciated

I'll be making a very quick (1-2 days) side trip from Belize to Tikal in about a week. What are my options for obtaining some local currency upon arrival?

We're on the Tropic Air flight from Belize City to Flores, arriving late afternoon (5:30 pm). Is there at ATM available at or near the Flores airport these days?

I've been there before (I flew in the same route), but that was 20 years ago - it was a pretty small airport then, and I don't recall any facilities like an ATM at the airport…

In a couple weeks we will be arriving in Flores on the short flight from Belize City. Our flight arrives in Flores around 5:30 pm. We need to arrange transport (2 people) to Tikal (we're staying at the park). A couple days later, we fly back to Belize City from Flores, so need to get back from the park to the Flores airport. Our outbound flight departs from Flores at 8:30 am.

Whats the best way to arrange a ride? (I define "best" as safe, reliable, reasonably comfortable and not terribly…

Just wanted to let potential Guatemalan visitors know about the possibility to exchange English tutoring for Spanish tutoring in Quetzaltenango (Guatemala's second biggest city). It is available to people who are in town for 3 months or more, and experience is preferred but not required as all the teaching materials are provided. A few of us want to spend a week in Antigua and take Spanish class in the morning and then volunteer/do service in the afternoon. Unfortunately, most of the volunteering I've looked at requires a longer time commitment or for you to pay a large amount of money to do the volunteering. So we are looking to not have to pay to volunteer and also at a place or places that would just be in the afternoon for a week. Any suggestions? Cheers

I tried to buy a Tigo SIM card for my old unlocked Nokia phone in Antigua. The man asked me for the phone number of the phone (Que es el numero del telephono). I tried to explain that I only use the phone when traveling and there is no active SIM number for the phone at the moment. I asked if he needed the number of where I was staying and he said "no". I thought maybe he wanted the IMEI number so I showed him. But, that wasn't it either. My Spanish isn't the best, so maybe we were not…

I know it's a long way off, but my husband and I are thinking of going to Central America next Christmas-time (December 2015-January 2016). I was wondering if anyone was there this year, or previously, and has any advice on:
- Where is best to be for Christmas and New Year?
- Are things (attractions, transport etc) likely to close down or inflate prices during the festive season?

We will have around 4 weeks and will probably fly in and out of Cancun (cheapest flights from UK) and the vague…

Dear All. On January 1, 2015, I flew from Boston, MA to Guatemala City on American Airlines. I had purchased a round-trip ticket returning to the U.S. at the end of June. I did all of my ticketing on the American Airlines website including choosing seats, checking in, and printing a boarding pass. The only thing that I needed to do at the airport was to check my two large suitcases.

When I got to the curbside baggage checker, he told me that my ticket was flagged…
