WOW!
I just came back from Guatemala and posted my humble travel log last week, I got so many wonderful responses and I just logged in and I see that people are sharing and saying wonderful things about Guatemala, after so many years of bad publicity I'm very pleased that people are experiencing the wonders of what Guatemala is all about, the sites, the beautiful places and most importantly the wonderful people. Keep it up.

Historically, some sort of crime wave can be expected when soldiers return from war and are no longer needed. When the Guatemala civil war ended, guys on both sides who were used to violence and unused to the rule of law were out of work. There were certainly problems, but they got exaggerated in the telling and retelling. However, the bulk of the former warriors have both gotten older and moved on. But the stories continue elsewhere.
