URGENT: Safety in Guatemala- Should I cancel trip?

My blog I'm going to write sensationalist travel stories. They don't necessarily have to be completely true. Nobody has done that before.

Having been going to Guatemala since l991 and always come back alive. Photos on wolf calls ,com. Not that bad is you use common sense or is this post a troll?

Definitely go back to Uganda where you'll be safe!

I'm no troll. Just someone with a bad case of the jitters after reading very disturbing posts.

I think I needed the reassurance. It helped to hear from others.

Why do you get the jitters from a nice place like Guatemala? You need to save the jitters for some awful place like somewhere in USA. I live in the third most dangerous city in USA and after that Guatemala is a walk in the park. Have travel insurance and use common sense. You can travel around Guat with ease and no need of armed transport. Do not wear expensive things on necks,ears, wrists or arms. Do not carry purses. Carry money secured under clothing. Money for the day in front pocket under crumpled tissue.. Do not ever use cell phones in public. Do not flash electronics.. Learn a few words in Spanish and have a nice visit. You might want to consider a Caravan tour that does have armed guards escorting their buses.

I always heard it's only the ghettoes which are dangerous, not?

Why was my post at #15 removed?....all I said was "if you are genuine do you really stand by your comment that you are going to use a special diplomatic protection service to get you to the lake??"...what does that question breach in the guidelines??
