I have tried searching with no luck before asking what I assume to be a repeat question...I am trying to locate a hotel in the $20-$25 CN range that is close to center or in a location that is safe to walk to after dark (since that's so early) This is my first trip to Guatemala and travelling solo F.
Was hoping for someone to recommend a place in that price range? quite, safe location, access to kitchen...

Hi Brammer
I have always stayed here http://www.casa-cristina.com/
and would recommend it to anyone in your situation.

Cheers, David

El Jardin de Lolita, nice people, great quiet yard, kitchen, basic but very clean rooms, single room (shared bath) was Q90 in March. 31 1a Calle Poniente (across from Yellow House).

That's my favorite, too, but no kitchen (though some rooms have fridges).

Just to be clear (as we posted at the same time) : #3 is talking about Casa Cristina. El Jardin de Lolita does have a kitchen.

Thanks for the suggestions. El Jardin looks good but I can't find a website to book thru, does anyone have a link?

I have stayed at Hostel Ummagumma and Posada Don Diego.

I know nothing firsthand about this place, but I found this online:
JARDINDELOLITA_14@GMAIL.COM. Telephone, 7832-7000

Many places in Guatemala (especially lower-priced) do not have websites, etc. to book through.

I would be cautious about Hostel Imperial. Lately there was a shuttle robbery connected to that place.
