My friend and I stayed Monday night (the 20th) at Tikal Inn in the park and the 21st in Flores. We arrived mid afternoon on the 20th and stomped around for 3 or 4 hours before the dark clouds descended and the slanted sunlight shining on the ruins was amazing. By 6:30 or 7 it started to rain and it POURED all night and through noon the next day. Wildlife viewing wasn't so great the morning of the 21st but it was still amazing being in that jungle in the downpour. The top of Temple 5 was a wild place to be with the wind and the rain. Wonderful visit.

I just got word that there was not much effect on the Mirador Basin, except that there was a very strong wind with rain and some trees fell. Archaeologist Richard Hansen tried to get all tours cancelled because of the opcoming risk. Some groups returned from Tintal because it was impossible to continue, but apparently no one was hurt. The danger is well past, but my guess is that the next trips that go through there will have to forge new trails around occasional fallen trees. Any time the muck and mire is too deep for mules, it is also necessary to find a way around. This would specially not be a good time to visit.

thanks for the report on tikal hopefulist - my guess would be that it didn't rain from 7pm till noon any day that week except the day you [& the storm] were there, i'm sure we'll hear if anyone else out there was there during that week.
does make for an interesting experience, tho.
