Can anyone tell me the best way to get from Panajachel to Guate on a weekend? I'll be in Panajachel on a Saturday and I'd like to get to Zona 10 of Guate before dusk. I've heard there are some buses that run between the two cities, but I'm thinking that using a shuttle service might be the best option. Any advice would be appreciated -- thanks!

Rebuli bus has a couple of direct buses every day from Pana to the Trebol in the capital. Then taxi from the Trebol to Zona 10 is 20-25Q.
The 11 o'clock Pullman only goes to Antigua, as far as I know.
A shuttle will take you door-to-door and that is often worth the extra cost.
Figure a little over three hours.

You could do it no problem by chickenbus, just go to the top of Santander where they congregate and ask any of the bus yeller guys which one for Guatemala, you´ll change in Solala or Los Encuentros and then direct from there, should be aorund 30Q in total but you´ll want a taxi once you get to the city as the bus system is really confusing. Should take a little over 3 hours, maybe 4 but not problem to do it in daylight.
