Hello,

I will be visiting Guatemala this winter on a trip to Central America. After I spend a night at Tikal I will have one night to spend near by before heading on to Belize. Where would you stay? Flores, El Remate, Santa Elena, I was leanig towards Flores but I would love some opions and any good places to stay.

Thanks for your help.

I enjoyed our night in Flores in August - cute town.

Flores always gets my vote. I enjoy sipping a cold beer and watching sunset over the lake.

I love Flores, Such a beatiful little island and really deserves more than just a night there.

Another vote for Flores. There you have several options to eat and have a drink, even to dance if you feel like it. In other places you'll be stuck with the hotel restaurants and services, and their higher prices...

I'm partial to el Remate. It's a sleepy little town right on the lake and VERY quiet. La Casa de Don David is a good deal. However, I can't argue with Flores either. If you're looking for action, go to Flores, a little island on the lake. If peace and quiet is what you're after, then el Remate is good. It's only about 1/2 hour from Tikal and already on the way to Belize. Watch out. The road to Belize is crappy. Full of potholes and dirt for about the last 10 miles.
