Fellow travellers..going to Nebaj end of October and want to do some hiking in the area. Any suggestions ? Anyone know Guias Ixils ? Will I need them? Hey, I'm 50something.....don't want to rush/be rushed like with some volcano guides who want to get home as early as they can.
Also, might try to be in Todos Santos for Nov. 1st ...have been there in May. Is the race as much as it's cracked up to be ? Will I be able to get accomodations there or should I plan on staying in a nearby village ?

I had 2 great experiences with a guide named Jacinto with Guias Ixiles 2 weeks ago. Once it was just my friend and I (waterfall viewing) and the 2nd time (to the village of Cocop) we hiked with a French couple. Small groups means you can ask to go more slowly or rest if you want. I don't know if you speak Spanish or if any of their guides speak English. There are a few more details in my travelogue. I would recommend going with a guide because the trails aren't marked and we learned a lot about the history of the area from Jacinto.
Take clothes to bundle up in - my room dropped into the 50's most of the nights we were there and it was August.
