I will travel on December.. Bay islands or is there rain season...

There is no such thing as a beautiful beach from Guatemala City. In fact there is no such thing as a beautiful beach anywhere in Guatemala.
That being said, there are many very beautiful things in Guatemala, the Mayan culture being just one.

Nearest decent beach would be on El Salvador's Costa del Balsamo, centered around La Libertad. You'll need to go to the Caribbean for turquoise water - Tela or Omoa would be the closest ones.

There is something like what you are describing, but is not close to the capital city. What you want is located in departamento Izabal, close to livingston.
The name of the beaches are: cocoli, punta de palma and punta de manabique. The last one is hard to get there because is some kind of protected area, but all of them are beautiful with white sand and turqouse water.

#3 is right. Ex travel Agent in Antigua told me the beaches south & east of Livingston rival anything in Belize or the yucatan--But--there is no infastructure--you can camp with the charcoal burners but that's about it. Now that there are proposals to build codo complexs in the Livingston area these beaches may become developed.

I hope those beaches never become developed, because with crowds come pollution and distruction. Well, I guess people need jobs, too.

I did not find anything around Livingston that would equal the beaches in Quintanna Roo, Mexico.
Number 3 and 4 are talking about the beaches in the Manabique point. It's not really that close to Livingston or accesible from there, you have to have yuor own transportation or hire a water taxi from Puerto Barrios. In some areas a permit is required since they are protected areas. There are some very basic huts in Punta de Palma. It's a beautiful place, completely undeveloped. Lots of critters, bugs and the like, but perfect if you are a nature loving eco-tourist. These areas are practically unpopulated and I hope it remains that way.
