I need to stay a night in Guatemala City and catch an early flight. Does anyone know of a hotel in the $20-30 range in Zona 13 (it´d be preferable because it´s the closest but I´m open)? Online sources are scarce. I´ve definitely already looked into Dos Lunas which seems nice but I´d like other suggestions if you have them.

Thanks in advance!

Anyone any experiences with Patricia's B&B? It's in zona 13 too and we were considering to stay there for one night.

I would stay in zona 10 as you can walk around the area at night to restaurants, bars and stores. And it is not appreciably farther than the places in zona 13. Guatemala's best hostels and hotels go from $14. at Xamanek to $250 and more at the Westin Camino Real. Then add ten minutes and a couple of $5.00 taxis to and from the airport.

I stayed at this hotel. It was somewhere between $30 and $35 for two people and they drove us to the aiport at 5am. The airport is 5 min away by car and you can hear the planes. There is nothing to do there so no points in hanging around until you go to bed.

The closest affordable Guate airport hotels are all in a nearby residential neighborhood with nothing close to them for nightlife or even anything that passes for restaurants. If people think that they might want to do something besides read themselves to sleep after eating some granola bars, Zona 10 is the place to go. And Xamanek is the only affordable place there. A reservation is necessary.

Stayed at Dos Lunas last year and walked to Zona 10 mall and back--it's a hike! Seemed like 4 miles but probably shorter.

note many hotels in zone 13 have free shuttle service to and from airport such as www.hhpedro.com so be sure and check out all the websites to see what's included. breakfast etc... this will save you a few bucks in the long run when comparing prices.
