Since I got only one reply to my last post about this I'll rephrase. Is Carnaval celebrated anywhere in Guatemala in February?If so has anyone had any experiences or advice? Thanks!

As far as I know it is only celebrated in Mazatenango. The fair lasts the whole week with a dance to crown the queen followed by public dances every night with salsa and merengue groups. They also have agricultural and live stock exhibits and a parade along the city streets on the first sunday. Like I said before since they built the Xetulul them park in Retalhuleu they have opened up all kinds of nice hotels an motels along the coastal highway (CA-2). Good luck.
