My wife and I are looking at something in the $60-$80 a night range in Antigua. Any suggestions?
We're looking at Casa Capuchinas and Hotel Quinta de Las Flores. Anyone have any reviews of those two places?
We're also going to be planning a wedding while we're down there, so let me know if you got married in Antigua.

Although i didn't get married there (for logisitcs of getting grandparents to travel the distance) we briefly considered a wedding a Casa Santo Domingo. It is beautiful. http://www.casasantodomingo.com.gt/<BR>A friend just attended a wedding there and said it was beautiful!
We also loved the idea of renting out the Casa del Mundo on Lago Atitlan if we did a small wedding.
I don't know those 2 hotels but for $60-80 you should be able to find something very nice.

You're on the wrong branch to be asking about weddings--most people tend to marry a partner with humanoid features which leaves out most of us regulars.

FOR A WEDDING:Quinta De Las Flores is a lovely spot with the best garden in the Antigua area. The rooms are not deluxe as they are a bit on the small side but the outdoors there is simply lovely. There are many lovely upscale places in Antigua now and the list grows every quarter. Do check out Santo Domingo (the largest facility that would be appropriate for a wedding here). But again there are many lovely spots for a smaller wedding. Do keep in mind the rainy versus dry season if you want an outdoor wedding. You would not want to plan an outdoor reception during the rainy season without a backup plan.....Duirng the dry season though (late Nov to early May) you can almost guarantee dry weather.
PLACES TO STAY:Posada Don Rodrigo is a nice place to stay (too small for a wedding though) in the center of everything on 5th Avenida; Casa Azul is also in a good location and a nice place in that price range to stay...there are many, many: Casa Encantada,Panza Verde both a little walking distance but not far from the park etc., etc. the list is dozens long.

try casa de los suenos , a more intimate place than casa santo domingo especially if you are looking for about 100 people or so.they have a web link or e mail me for more info we were married there about 3 years ago with a great event.
good luck

But Casa de los Suenos is in Santa Ana where I used to live. It is not as close to the center of Antigua as other places. In reality there are doznes of places that would suit a small wedding and quite a few, especially garden places used for large weddings. If you have local invitees then parking is an issue you will have to check out. If all your guests are flying in then it is less of a problem but in that case you will need to hire private vans to get them to places outside the center of town.

Oh, also, if you wanted a self-contained place for a small wedding and wanted a very private exclusive spot, then check online for Finca Filadelphia...we were there at there new hotel property for lunch one day and the place was being prepared for a wedding. THen entire place had been rented and if it were a small wedding and you wanted lovely rooms for guests to sleep and a very private, exclusive feel (at an exclusive price I am sure) then this place would be ideal. I can tell you the chef is wonderful and the suites there are special ...very new but with a "Colonial coffee finca"feel to the place, just much more elegant than a real old time GUatemalan coffee finca ever dreamed of being.
