Hotel/hostal near restaurants or food markets under $25

Hotel Sevilla is the ideal place/location for medical reasons because it's real clean w/private bath and cable tv for about $25. I don't think you'll be able to find a good place w/kitchen for $25. They have room service and the food is good at reasonable prices. You can find all kinds of fast food restaurants and places where you can get some hot coffee/chocolate and bread early in the morning on sexta avenida, within walking distance. The maids are honest ladies that have been with the company for many years. And thus, I wouldn't worry about them going though my stuff. But I always keep my luggage locked when I'm not in the room. I was there for about 12 days about a month ago. The problem is you can only get a good wifi connection up in the second floor. And not in all the rooms. So, when you check in make clear to them that you need a wifi connection. The rooms facing the street are noisy because of all the traffic and have no wifi connection. But on the other hand you won't be bothered by other loud guests.You can make a reservation a week in advance at (502) 2230-6538 without having to give them a credit card number. Keep in mind if you charge it they add a 6 % surcharge which IMO is only fair because in Mexico or Costa Rica you'd be paying about $45/50 for that kind of hotel. There is another good Hotel, Hotel La Ermita www.hotellaermitaguatemala.com around the corner on 12 avenida. Their website shows a rate of Q260/$34 single, but it looks like a better place. The other problem is that because the rate is reasonable for that kind of hotel, they get groups from the interior and they tend to be noisy people sometimes. Hey Steve I don't know if you were the guy using your laptop down in the lobby one morning when some guy was raising hell about not getting the right code to be able to connect. Good luck.

No, that was not me. I think that was some italian guy. I was there at that moment waiting for my cab driver to pick me up.
I hope on my next trip I have the pleasure of meeting you. But if the rate at La Ermita is $34 I think I'll stay there better. Maybe I can work out a weekly rate. That's the hotel on 12 avenida between 9th and 8th Ave. I've eaten there. But I've never stay there.
