My wife and I are returning to Guatemala after 10 years. Does any one have any hiden spots in the Attinlan and surrounding areas that we should check out. Any ideas are welcome. What was your favorite experience. I can still taste a spice cake I had at La Iguana Perdida and remember the $.50 room in San Jaun!

thanks Aaron

Well, more of a necessity than anything else; walking back from the Church in Pana last year, we found Crossroads Cafe. If coffee is important to you, this is the place to go in Pana. The owner was kind enough to show us his back room, and how he processes local beans. When I return in January, I'll be there every morning before heading out and about.

Aaron, I have to say that you'll be slightly disappointed returning to the lake after 10 years. The $.50 room is much closer to $5 now (not that that breaks the budget), but there are a bunch more tourists. La Iguana perdida now has electricity, but it's still a cool, unique place to stay.

Have fun!
