On arrival from El Salvador by Pulmantur, TicaBus, or KingQuality they usually would drop off travelers at their respective offices or terminals in not so great parts of zona 1 (near old train station) what options are there in getting to Antigua? I suspect that it would be cheaper to take the taxi to another bus station for bus to Antigua or would it be better to pay the extra money and tell the driver to take us to Antigua?

Are taxis hailed from the street safe or is it better to call a particular cab company to come pick ups up?

The King Quality terminal is in zone 15, a very nice part of town. There are always plenty of taxis wainting for the bus arrivals. Ticabus terminal is also in a okay part of town and a little closer to Antigua. Ditto with the taxis waiting.

Pullmantur will leave you at the Holiday Inn bang in the middle of Zona Viva, in Zone 10. You can take a taxi or find out about shuttles to Antigua in one of the many hotels in the area. taxi should cost around GTQ 200-250 (USD 25-30, more or less). Shuttles cost around USD8-10 p/p.
