Hey all,

I have a trip planned for next month: Into Cancun, then immediately over to Vallodalid for a couple of days, down to Chetumal for a couple more (Rio Bec Maya sites), into Belize for two days, then across over to Guatemala via San Ignacio. Into Flores to see Tikal, then fly back to Cancun. However, the only one way flights listed by TACA from Flores to Cancun are over $300! I don't want to retrace and bus back to Cancun, but I'm really surprised at this flight cost. Is it likely to be cheaper buying the ticket at the airport in Flores? Would there be two seats available?

Although its a little cheaper in reverse (not that much, though), I like the route I've planned. Trying to plan for 8 or 9 day trip. Thanks for any info/tips!

I doubt it would be cheaper there, but chances are very good that there would still be seats for you there to check it out. Any itinerary without competition will always go for top dollar. It's called a monopoly.

I usually enjoy cramming in a lot, but I think you are trying to do too much, even if you got any airfare from Flores on the ground or anywhere. If you only get time off in 8 or 9 day increments, you might save Tikal for the next one in order to see something of Peten as well.

Good luck!
