Hola! My husband and I will be heading to San Pedro on Lake Atitlan for the month of July (and/or August - we've been reading how hard it is to leave once you get there). Does anyone have any tips on renting a place for a month or two. We're looking for somewhere with a kitchen/fridge and hot water. Muchas gracias.

I spent an afternoon there a couple weeks ago and, although I can't answer your question about finding a rental, I suspect that the reason folks find it hard to leave may be because they are too drugged-out to have much ambition for doing a lot of things!

Not everybody who lives AND PROSPERS in San Pedro la Laguna is "too drugged-out to have much ambition for doing a lot of things!" Some of us are actually buying up properties and businesses from those drugged out folks and preparing for San Pedro's ensuing evolutionary leap. An afternoon isn't much time to get to know a place really so I'll take your comments with un grano de sal!! When you get to town ask around at some of the key businesses owners' restaurants and hotels and you'll quickly find contacts. I was just forced out of a place because the bastard tripled my rent. Prices are starting to rise so get the gettin' while the gettin's good!! I'm a resident and biz owner in San Pedro and invite you to contact me through the link/email in my profile.
