Planning to change a few hundred US dollars to start.
Flying into Guatemala City Airport = Aurora. Going directly to Antigua.
Is there a good place to change money at airport or should I wait until Antigua?

Thanks

Do you have an ATM card? If not and for cash you will get a much better rate at a bank.

Is there a "best" ATM to use at the airport . . or are they all the same?
Is it easy to find ATM at airport?

#1 is correct on exchange rates as airport money exchange kiosks are notorious ripoffs anywhere in the world.

Try to avoid BAC ATM's as they charge US$2.50 per transaction, Citi bank machines are cheaper if available.

BI charges $2.00 per transaction

The airport places tend to have a ridiculous exchange rate. There are many legit banks all over the country, including in Antigua. Yes, there are also plenty of atm's like someone mentioned.

Use a ATM...just be careful using NON Bank ATM's in Antigua...skimming/phishing is not uncommon.

Make sure your ATM Debit Card does not have High Non Network Fees and Foreign Transactions Fees...

You can use green backs to get to Antigua and in town.

I still use traveler checks when going to 'Guatemala. I get them free at my credit union and change them for the same rates as usa dollars at bank in Antigua that show the travelers checks sign.. I like the fact that they are insured against loss. There have been way too many ATM problems to make me feel comfortable using them anywhere.
