You got Guatemala AND you also got Thailand (BKK)? Where do you want to go? One is shorter flight from LAX (GUA) then the other (BKK) and once you're there it's fairly cheap to stay in both locations. Both fares are pretty good if they are roundtrip it's just matter of deciding how much you want to spend on airfare in getting there and how much time you have.

Are you coming from Texas to Los Angeles to either BKK or GUA? If so don't forget to include the airfare from Texas to Los Angeles.

Cgal, read the bottom line on Spirit specials! $24 translates into 180 or so RT. Don“t get Discount on one way TX

Anyone, Gua is Guatemala LAX is LA, The trip is one way gua to BKK, Spirit to LA, China Air to BKK(Thai)!

Thanks

you BOOK roundtrip & only use the going not the return.
spirit had returns for $24. as well so the whole enchilada w/ taxes run gua-lax-gua $110.00.
don't tell them you aren't using the return you just don't show up - happens all the time.
check the prices for rt to bkk too ya never know.
but it's worth the extra $80.00 or $100.00 if it's a flight you want on an airline you want w/ the connection time that's best for ya.

And 'TX' for tickets. OK that makes sense. So just as a reminder there are no provisions for transit international to international flights in the USA. Which means when you get off at LAX from GUA you will have to go through US immigration/passport control as if you're entering to stay in the USA, claim your stuff, and go through customs turning in the blue declaration form you got on the Spirit Air flight from Guatemala and go to China Air (Tom Bradley terminal) to check in for the flight to BKK. In Taiwan (LAX-TPE-BKK) there are provisions for transit so you can check your things through to BKK. Which means:

1. You must make sure you have a machine readiblle passport issued from a country in the USA's visa waiver programme. This allows you to enter and stay in the USA for < 90days. See posts #109-111 or travel.state.gov for what the countries are.

2. If not make sure you have the appropriate visas (usually B1 or B2 for short term/non-immigrant visitors) approved & issued prior to travel.

3. Once you get into LAX you want to make sure that you have enough time to check in for the onward flight to BKK and the asanite security screening. Spirit Air from Central America arrives at Tom Bradley International terminal where you come in at the lower level after clearing US Customs you simply go back up the escalators to check in at China Air. So that's one extra hassle out of the way.
