Hi!

My partner and I are planning at 10-12 day trip to Costa Rica for September 2017. We know that the time is quite short- but we are keen on visiting the waterfalls, parks, forests. We are not that interested in a beach holiday (keep it limited to 1 day). We haven't booked flights yet- but we will probably fly into San Jose (coming from the US). Can anyone please provide a tentative itinerary on the must-sees and dos for this time? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Rheeda

Hi,

Since there are few forums in the Netherlands about Costa Rica I will ask my questions here and hopefully you can help me.
We're planning a roadtrip in September. I already booked all accommodations based on the driving times in Google maps.
This was the schedule:
Arrival SJO, next 2 nights Tortuguero NP, than 3 nights La Fortuna, 2 nights Rincon de la Viejo, 2 nights Monteverde, 3 nights Dominical, 3 nights Puerto Viejo de Talamanca and finally the last night near the airport.

For the…

from Liberia

So we will have a busy schedule in the Nicoya area,,,,,,Diamante Eco Park etc.

I now have to get the "Liberia" figured out 100%. We are leaving Wednesday, so I will need to make decisions quickly:)

We will be with 4 people; we would like to take the bus from Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday morning to possibly Curubanda & will have to decide whether to take the 6:40 AM bus or the 12 noon bus......

Once we get to Curubanda, how will we get to Las Pailas Trail??

NOW, my question is....we think…

Hi, I'm hoping for some advice on specific places that would be good to rent an Airbnb or similar that works for a group including small kids (9 month and almost 4 years old). It'll be my wife and myself and our two kids, and each set of grandparents so 6 adults and two little kids. I'm pretty sure I'll rent a van for safety and logistics.10 nights.

I lived in Costa Rica for three months (mostly Turrialba) raft guiding and safety kayaking when I wasn't traveling the whole country kayaking all…

Hi!
I'm traveling on my own, by bus, until June 15, when I fly back home from San José. Wanted to see some (as much as possible) unspoiled wilderness and decided to go for Osa. I'm currently in Manuel Antonio and would appreciate advise on: 1) my best starting point in Osa (Puerto Drake or Puerto Jiménez) 2) the convenience or need of hiring a guide (I'm not excited with the idea of joining a tour), as well as details on river crossings (feasibility, difficulty) in the area at this time of the…

I've been reading through this forum and as usual Thorntree is a great resource for planning travel. Thank you to all who post here.

I'm planning a trip for myself, my husband, and my 8 year old boys. Flying into Liberia end of July, flying out of San Jose mid-August. I rented a 4WD Suzuki Jimny from Payless, picking up in Liberia and dropping off in San Jose, for an astonishing $2 a day. I guess they needed cars to go back in that direction. In any case I'm thanking my lucky stars and…

Has anyone taken a Tracopa bus from Uvita to Juan Santa Maria Airport and knows what time the last one leaves at and from where? My flight is at night and the last bus seems to leave at 1pm..... I can't even find information if it goes straight to the airport or if I will need to change in San Jose..... which I would prefer if I don't have to do..... Tracopa has a very good price but does anyone know if there's another bus company that leaves later with a similar pricing of around 5,000 colones…

Hello, Im looking for any advice over a good itinerary for our trip to Costa Rica in December.

So far we are flying out on December 25th and coming back 10 days later.

I know this much.

I want to see some wonderful sights I also want to relax on the beach and dont want to uproot and relocate hotels too much.

We are going to land in Liberia then ... thats all I know.

Id love some thoughts on must see places.

And is it possible to do day trips to see them from a beachy location?

Thanks

I want to take advantage of stargazing in Costa Rica. I've been looking for a legit stargazing operator to coordinate with, the type with the fatty telescope that is programmed to follow course of what ever you are looking at, laser pointer, etc. Anyone ever find anything down there like this?
