I lived in Costa Rica 2002-04 and have maintained contact since with my Tica god-daughter Arleth, who's now 16, and her family. I have a Toshiba laptop I'd like to send them but there's no way to get it there, so am looking for someone traveling to CR to deliver it. They live in a rural area west of Paso Canoas - near the CR-Panama border, Pacific side - just south of Golfito and east of Pavones and Playa Zancudo. If you are travelling to the Osa Peninsula, Corcovado or Domincal, you'll be…
My husband and I are considering a trip to Costa Rica in October. We were initially considering a self-drive trip itinerary of: San Jose - Pacuare - Arenal - Manuel Antonio - San Jose. However we've read that the weather in this part of Costa Rica is meant to be terrible in October (constant rain, mudslides, etc). Has anyone been to any of these areas during October and have any advice as to whether or not it is worth going that time of year? We don't mind a bit of rain, but it won't be fun if…
Hello!
Does anybody know if there is possibility to rent wi-fi for a period of time in Costa Rica?
We will be there for 2 weeks and we would like to have wi-fi everywhere and not only at our hotels.
(For example, in Japan there were several wi-fi companies with a counter at the airport arrivals and we could rent it from there).
Also, I read there are ATM machines at the arrivals and at the departures hall in SJ airport. Do you recommend bringing our US Dollars with us or withdrawing from the ATM…
Hola!
I will be very limited with time in Costa Rica (arrive evening of 9/9/17 and leave 9/15/17). I am planning to spend some time in both Monteverde and Manual Antonio. I was wondering what is the best way to get from one city to the next (not quite sure which city I'll be in first), bus, taxi...etc?
Also, any recommendations on hostels?...I will be traveling solo, so I'd like to meet some other solo travelers.
Muchas gracias!
Going to CR from Dec. 18-29th with 8 people, ages 10-50. This is the first draft of the itinerary I've made. Does it look feasible? Don't want to cram too many things in but we do want to see/do lots.
Dec. 18 - Arrive in San Jose
Dec. 19 - Toucan Rescue Ranch in AM, head to La Fortuna in PM
Dec. 20 - Mistico Park Hanging Bridges, La Fortuna waterfall
Dec. 21 - Arenal Volcano hike, hot springs in the evening
Dec. 22 - Whitewater rafting
Dec. 23 - Head to Monteverde, PM activity TBD…
Hi! I'm aiming to travel from La Fortuna to Granada in September in one day by shuttle. I had seen a few services offering the trip to the border with a connecting bus on the Nica side to Granada. However, the shuttle companies are all saying they go via Liberia or that it's better to go back to SJ. I am aware the trip takes at least 8 hours (depending on the border and traffic). Could anyone advise of a way to travel the route in 1 day? I would like to avoid having to stay overnight en route…
Hi, I was looking at two weeks backpacking in Costa Rica last half of February 2018.
I know this is high season and the country gets booked out, but is it too early to book my flight from London and start looking at hostels/Guesthouses?
Thanks
Hello,
Our family is planning on traveling through Central America, I heard if we travel to Costa Rica, they are very strict about providing proof that you have a ticket out of the country upon arrival. So far, our trip is open ended with our departure dates. Will we have to show a plane or bus ticket upon arrival?
Hello! I am travelling with my family of 4, kids 8 and 6- mid Aug. - early Sept. 2017. We'll have a total of 20 nights. We fly into Liberia, spend 4 nights in Bijagua, drive to El Castillo for 5 nights, then trek out to Tortuguero for 3 nights. Contemplating stopping in Heredia area for 2 nights before heading back to NW Guanacaste-haven't decided this part yet. My question is: is 5 nights at El Castillo too much? Would La Fortuna be a better choice? We love hiking, adventure tours…
Hello travellers,
my boyfriend and I are travelling to Costa Rica next week and are in the middle of planning. On top of our interests is to visit Monteverde and Santa Elena and we have some questions regarding the organisation of your time there.
We saw that there are numerous agencies offering various activities, however it is not clear whether we can do so independent hikes. So - can we? We are experienced hikers and nature enthusiasts and are interested in a canopy walk (as far as we…
