Hi there - I'm searching for remote, and less-known waterfalls/beaches throughout the country. Anyone want to spill the beans ??
Also any free hikes/wicked spot recommendations in La Fortuna/Monteverde would really be appreciated :)
Thanks!

Hi all,
well, I think my question is pretty clear but I would like to know also...if possible, could it be a straight trip on bus from Paso Canoas at least or would I have to stay one night in San José, for example?
Thanks a lot and kind regards,
Iker

Hi Everyone,
I am considering a 3 night 4 day excursion to Corcovado with my husband. We plan to fly in from San Jose to Drake Bay and stay in the Drake Bay area in one of the lodges/hotels around 8 - 12 miles from the park (closer if price permits). My question is, once we get to Drake Bay what is the process of getting into the national park and how does one accomplish this. We would be interested in a daytime trip and maybe a night time hike, both with guides of course. Are there timings…
Hi All,
This will be my second trip to CR-- 6 years ago was my first! On the first trip I had almost 2 weeks and went SJ->Arenal->Monteverde->Santa Teresa->Montezuma->Quepos/Manuel Antonio->Londres (random stop), and then back to SJO to fly home.
On this trip I'd love thoughts on the following itinerary-- as I am bringing a girlfriend and want to do some of the things I really loved the most and then some new things!
Arrive 12 noon on Day 1 in SJO--> Transfer to Monteverde/Santa Elena (trying…
I planned a back packing trip during my spring break, and will be traveling down the Caribbean Coast from Tortuguereo (arrive Early March 23rd) to Manzanillo and the back to San Jose (on the 28th). I had everything all planned, and knew that it would be more crowded due to spring break and Easter. I am just now finding out that buses do not run? Is this true? If so, is there a work around? I am willing to fly in and out of Limon, but cannot spend a fortune on travel past that.
Hi folks,
I'll have some dear friends visit me in July. I plan to take them on a couple of weekend trips while they will travel independently during the week. They will have their "base" in San José, so that do not need to take all their luggage with them and can leave the passports in my safe.
While they are with me, I will take them to:
La Fortuna / Arenal Volcano
Boca Tapada (Laguna del Lagarto Lodge)
Tortuguero
Brasilito / Playa Conchal
On their own, they will travel to:
Orosi Valley
Cahuita

Hi there,
I had bad luck when I started my 3 month trip in Costa Rica, I hurt myself in the second day, I fell from some stairs, got all bruised in the legs and cut my little toe, which I got 5 stitches. It's been 10 days and I can't heal it properly since it's in a bad spot, from walking around and having dust/sand inside. I've waited for 4 days to be able to go to the beach as the doctor recommend, but it got worse again. So I headed myself to Monteverde, to run away from the sweat/dust/sand…
Hello Everyone,
My husband and I are planning a much needed trip to Costa Rica in mid-April. We are thinking of going for about 8 days and would love some help with a well balanced itinerary. Basically, we are BIG into wildlife, rainforests and beaches, and would like a healthy mix of all, but don't want it to get too hectic or spend less than a day at any destination.
At the moment, I was thinking of these itineraries and would love some suggestions. We are flying from Boston and probably…
Hi,
I am researching options on getting from SJO to Tortuguero. My flight lands around 8am.
And looks like private shuttles have all left by then. So I am planning to use public transport.
I read that there are buses from Gran Caribe to Cariari to La Pavona and boat from there. This option is also very cheap. Can someone help with bus and boat timings? Also what is the best way to get from SJO to Gran Caribe terminal? Its about 20km as per google map.
While coming back I am going from Tortuguero…
