Hello!

What hostels would you recommend in the Arenal erea?
Is it best to stay in the town of Fortuna or elsewhere like las palmas or El Castilio? what are the advanages of staying in each of these places? we will be without a car so it's important to us to have good transportation.

Thanks!

¡Hola!

As I was getting my packing list together and finalizing plans for Cahuita (this Friday) and Puerto Viejo de Talamanca (a few days later), a few last-minute questions came to mind:

  1. I'm bringing a short rain jacket with me - would it be worth it to pack a rain poncho and/or umbrella as well? My jacket has a hood, but is only hip length, and I wouldn't be able to fit my daypack underneath it. I was considering putting a big plastic bag in my daypack that could help keep things dry…

Hi,
We have had brilliant advice from this Forum so far.

We were hoping to stay at Drakes Bay for 5 nights (Finca Mareisa) and then at Cabo Matapalo (Casa Bambu) for 7 nights (end of July) to see both sides of Osa so to speak.

I understand road may be a problem in rainy season but I have been advised that the only sure way to get out of Drakes bay is to fly, to fly from Drakes Bay to Puerto Jimenez (can't find any flights to do this) or get a private transfer from Drakes bay to Cabo Matapalo…

Hi there!

I am going to be filming in Costa Rica in April and I am looking for scenic places to shoot at dawn and dusk. Either as typical setting for the region as possible or just very special or bizarre. Preferably green and lush, not sure how hard that is to find now because of the dry season.
I need proper light so I have to be able to shoot from some kind of clearing, for example either mountain tops, meadows, beaches, grassy hills, a clearing by a stream / lake / waterfall etc
I am…

Hi!
We are two people planning to spend 1-3 months in Santa Teresa, starting in May. We're trying to figure out how much we can expect to spend on rent? We don't need anything fancy but it needs to be clean, safe and have a basic kitchen. Is it best to find a place when you're already in Santa Teresa? So far I've mostly found more upscale places online. Are there any good pages to look for budget apartments?
Any help on this would be very much appreiciated!

Hello Everyone!

I'm super excited about my next global destination which is Costa Rica! This will be my first CR trip as well as my first solo endeavor so I want to ensure that I'm well or at the very least somewhat prepared.

Since it is only a 7 day trip, I don't plan to jump around different cities too much since I've read that transportation can take a lot of time. Can anyone please provide me with some expertise and advice on ways to get around as quickly and cost-effectively as possible…

What is the best way to get on a boat tour to see Cano Negro Refuge? We will have a car and based on my research I should be driving right into the refuge and I will be able to book a smaller boat (or private) within the refuge. Is this correct or am I missing something?

For the last 5 years I have spent the last week of January in and around Jaco. I take this trip with 3 high school buddies. In 2017 we are extending our trip to 10 days and we are hopeing to do something on the east coast for 3 or 4 days. We fly into San Jose and send a couple days fishing out of Jaco where we rent a condo. We will have 4WD SUV. Any suggestions for east coast activities?

Hi all, I am planning a 16 days trip to Costa Rica and looking for tips re the best place to start.
I am traveling alone and looking for the best spot to meet other tourists, with easy way to get around from restaurants, bars, and beaches.

I also want it to be a good starting point to get to other locations.
Santa Teresa is one of my options, but I am not sure it's easy to move around from place to place
