Hi guys! I've been reading these forums for awhile, and have found your advice and comments extremely helpful. I would love to get your opinion on my trip planning to Costa Rica. I have 6 days to spend there, in the beginning of November. I know it's the wet season, but I don't think I mind that. I would love to visit Quepos/Manuel Antonio (for the beach/wildlife), Monteverde (for the rainforest hike and canopy walk/zipline), and Montezuma (again for the beach, and waterfalls). Do you think that…
Hello there! Thanks to all for your help thus far in my trip planning. My friend and I are arriving in San Jose on Sunday, August 26th at 8:35 p.m. We're planning on heading out early next day to catch a public bus to La Selva Biological Station, where we'll spend the next two days.
I'd love recommendations for a hostel in San Jose, so we can make reservations...especially if the hostel is near the Gran Terminal del Caribe, so we can catch the bus to Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui (and La Selva)…

Last night we were in the little village El Castillo (near La Fortuna), hoping to see the lava flowing of the vulcano.
But the weather was not good, clouds and rain. So we only saw a little lava.
But we heard from a guy over there that the lava was awsome the night before.
We were one day too late...!
So we´re wondering, has anyone seen the lava on the volcano at night? Can you email us some photos?? Click on moniques.
Thank you very much!
Saludos
Hate to be a bore by repeating same questions, my apologies! Boyfriend and I are heading to CR end of November thru Dec. 5th. He wants to snorkel, meaning laying face down in the ocean looking for fish, with a kid's swim mask on. Have read beaches can have pretty big undercurrents so my question is: Which beaches should we go to?
That's right...the place where locals and gringos party on the beach in Nosara will close in two weeks. Many rumors are around as to what it will be....Juicebar, Yoga place, another hotel, who knows...but it's an end of an era for sure.
Hello Everyone,
I have read most of the posts about Costa Rica's weather in September and I am totally confused. Some say it is their favorite time, others say wait until the dry season, and others say some areas are great and some not so much. I realize that in a tropical environment the weather is always unpredictable and that Costa Rica has many different climates. I want to see volcanoes, hike, see wildlife and vegetation, and spend some time at the beach. If I were to go it would be Sept…
Hey all,
I am flying into San Jose on Sept. 1 and need to get to Playa San Miguel either on the evening of Sept. 2, or during the day of Sept. 3. I have read that it is pretty easy to get a bus ticket for that route, but I was wondering if any of you had any insights on this. I am going there for 2 months to work with the turtles, so I am chompin' at the bit to get to the beach!
thanks,
Evan
Can anyone tell me if I can take a direct Ticabus from Liberia to Managua? Or do I have to go from San Jose? Or are the buses out of Liberia locals to the border and then require a change? Thanks
