Hi There
I've heard that it could be very windy in Tamarindo in January, which is when I'm planning on visiting.... does anyone know how windy and what the temperature are likely to be. I'm happy for wind especially if it keeps you cool. The only reason I'm asking is someone has recommended not going because of it but I want to try and see the turtles as well as having a couple of days by the sea in our tight schedule.
Many thanks in advance,
Sam

Guanacaste is very dry in January. You'll like a bit wind. See weather and best turtle time on Costa Rica Guide

Thank you everyone - and what a great website costaklaus... we'll be off in the winds to see some turtles....
Cheers
Sam

Some days are bad on the beach, some are okay, but as above says, the wind feels good...its hot

personally i did not like the sand blowing in my face and everywhere else...plus i did not like tamarindo much..i much preferred Nosara, which is south of there on the Nicoya peninsula...you can also see turtles at the biggest nesting site for the Olive Ridley turtle in the world, Ostional Wildlife Refuge, which is quite close to Nosara.
