Guilty As Charged Jan, your a big help on the Forum, as is NYC Girl, a new resident on the TT....

Thanks for the responses guys, i think the majority of people have taken what i said on board!!
DKT2U, no i dont have a massive Ego or anything like it, im just from a country where if you ask a question, you get a friendly response and just got a bit taken aback at the abruptness of some answers on here which is something i would not be used to...costaricaguide himself/herself even commented that ireland is one of the friendliest places he/she has ever visited... i am just not used to abruptness and rudeness when there is no need for it....
Anyways hopefully we can all be friends now???
And i am really looking forward to going to CR on sunday and will post a trip report when i get back!!!

read the questions and answers first from the last few weeks on CR side and then probably you have an answer to almost every question, that's what I do.

Klair,I am glad you brought up this topic, so I could put my two cents in about it. I also dislike the occasional rude response found here. But, overall, people will reply even to personal messages with very specific information, names, prices, etc. All of that is very helpful. I also think some people are less sensitive than others. I notice my son is totally unfazed by negative comments. He just laughs and ignores whatever he doesn't agree with. Could it be that some people trying to be flippant come across more negative than they intended?
To answer your other question, my experiences have been that many Costa Ricans (Ticos) go far out of their way to help me out, answer questions, make me feel like a valued visitor. There were a few jerks in taxis or whatever, but they do not outnumber the helpful ones. You may PM me with questions, and whenever I have time to keep up with this blog I am happy to answer even basic questions. As I am a teacher, I am quite used to doing so, and don't find it tedious.

Klair- I have been accused in the past of being short with my responses but for the most part most people on this board are helpful although as others have said occasionally a Troll will aggravate the regulars and set some into short response mode. That being said this board is no different than any other board on the internet. There are regulars on every board and there are regular smart asses on every board no matter what the site content is for the board. This is all part of doing business on the internet. If you hang out long enough you will see that even some of the people that seem rude may have a reason for being that way and you will find that you end up sharing their frustration with some of the idiotic questions that indeed show lack of preparedness. My personal irks come from those that "accidently overstay their visas" and those that go somewhere with no means to get themselves home (this is usually because "someone else" put them into the situation where they spent everything that they had.....).
I have 12 trips to Costa Rica under my belt and 7 to the Dominican Republic. Feel free to PM me. If I can help I'll be glad to and if I can't most likely I can steer you where you need to go to find out.
Bottom line is don't take anything too personally.
