I agree with you Klair. If people are so tired of answering the same questions, maybe it's time to let somebody new answer them . I'm sure there are folks that know CR as well as any regular poster that wont post because they also feel intimidated.
I must have read "Did you buy a Moon handbook"? along with the rest of the rude comments at least 1000 times....my biggest pet peave, besides innacurate comparisons between Jaco and US cities. I would rather hear someones personal experience than something out of a book that may be dated. For instance there are restaurants in the Moon book that dont exist anymore, or have been listed in the wrong place in Ojochal.
As Boomer1 stated, this should be fun, and if you're miserable that day.....stay off line!!!

If you are intimidated by posting a question on what is basically an annonymous forum.........you shouldn't be traveling.

Klair, I just think it is a little silly for what I assume is a grown adult to say they are intimidated to post a question on an annonymous forum. Is your pride or ego so fragile it will be damaged by an inconsiderate or rude response? That being said, I think everyone should indevour to give good informative responses.

Scoot-

Every guidebook has its out of date places, as far as Cafes go, and new ones spring up while the new edition is in print.

I rarely use the Eating sections, as I ask the front desk, or just go by foot, and check out the menu. As I did in your are at Cafe Exotic, I stopped my car, got out, walked in, liked the decor and the menu, and ordered away.

You're right Tim but they should strive to make corrections. There are places that no longer exist featured in the OLD Lonely Planet, that not surprisingly still don't exist even though they are featured again in the NEW Lonely Planet. Thats just lazy or non-existent research.

I find that's it's interesting to read different opinions about tourist destinations as well, even if repeated . The OPs might be reading it for the first time and can make thier own decisions after a debate , that a book wont offer. For example ...alot of people rave about the coffee tours. It was the most boring and regretful thing I've ever done in CR.
The gold museum sucks too IMO , and I like Jaco...discuss

klair,

You were wondering how friendly Costa Rica itself is.

I've been all over the world and my list of places that stand out as particularly friendly (in no particular order) are Ireland, Costa Rica, Thailand and New Zealand.

We all apologize constantly for the denizens of the CR branch of TT that abandon their manners and enthusiasm when they sit down at the keyboard, but you'll find the country much more welcoming.

Coffee Tour was nice for the scenery....thats about it, and I was hungry and love coffee...it started to rain and we sat in coffee plantation and drink enough coffee for 100 people.

Gold Museum is only worth it if your in the hood, no need to go out of the way.

Jaco, is not my cup of tea for the fact its too touristy, but for some, its fine, everyone knows my thoughts in Jaco.

Now, Germuno loves Puntarenas to party, a true local place, that is not too charming in my book either, but I bet you can have a darn fun time there too....

The coolest things I have done is rafting, hikes in the canopy, Osa-Corcovado, Diving Isla Cano and Drake Bay, and snorkel at Playa Bellena...discuss

Hello Klair,

You certainly have a point with what you said. Unfortunately there are always people that don't like questions which appear very much. Our opinion is that we don't answer that kind of questions, we even don't read them. We prefer using our spare time to give free, good and reliable information about Costa Rica to other questions, people can mail us at our website and if we have time (sometimes we are very busy) we answer that questions.
Tim answers a lot of questions but we don't agree with all his answers and sometimes he can be rude. Personally we like to talk to local people all over Costa Rica to get inside information from certain areas and that kind of information you will never find in the guidebooks.

Have a nice time in Costa Rica!!
