Shuttle San Jose to Cahuita 8 am, not 6 or 7 am

Mepe has a bus leaving at 10am every day from Terminal Atlantico Norte. Not sure about the shuttles.

Thanks. I just checked out the bus schedule at thebusschedule.com. I could go at 8 or 830 to Limon and then change buses. 10 is a little too late. I think when you do that you have to walk a few blocks to change buses. Do you happen to know where that is? i would think that other people on the bus would be going that way and I could follow.

There is also a direct Mepe bus at 8 am from Terminal Atlantico Norte (which is also called San Carlos). Or you can indeed go to the Caribe bus station and take a bus to Limon. They go very frequently. I do also think you have to go from the main terminal in Limon to the Puerto Viejo terminal. I don't think it is a long walk but I have not done that. I am sure a taxi would be cheap if you felt unsafe or have a lot of luggage.

Personal experience plus the Mepe website says this is not true. The Mepe buses leave at 6am and 10 am so far as I can tell: http://www.mepecr.com/san-jos---cahuita

But as sonia says, you could go to the Caribe bus station, bus to Limon, and use a quick taxi to transfer to the Puerto Viejo terminal, and that would get you to Cahuita earlier than the 10am Mepe bus.

Maybe the Mepe website is not up to date. I have found the website below to be up to date. For example I know for sure that there is now a 6 pm Mepe bus from San Jose to Cahuita (that is pretty recent) and that one is not mentioned on the Mepe website either. So I assume the website below is correct about the 8 am bus as well. But who knows? Best to contact Mepe or check with a hotel in Cahuita.

Thanks for the info. An 8 am direct bus would be ideal. I have just emailed Mepe in case their site is out of date. If not, I can always do the SJ to Limon, change terminals and then take a bus to Cahuita.

There is a bus every 2 hours from downtown to Cahuita/PJ...

Thanks Mr. Moto. I also got an email from the site that listed the 6, 8 and 10 schedule. They said that Mepe is just slow about updating their site.
