Hi, I'm in the early stages of my planning. I arrive at San Jose airport around 9:30am and would like to head straight to La Fortuna? (Like to leave capital till last few days) my budget is tight so i wont be taxi.
I have heard that public bus might stop at the airport on the way to La Fortuna? is this true is there any links to time table and do they have express buses from the airport ?
Thanks

You can take a taxi to La Radial in Alajuela . That's maybe 5 minutes away. At La Radial which terminal you will buy a ticket to Ciudad Quesada. Then Ciudad Quesada to La Fortuna. Or you can buy one to La fortuna. The Ciudad Quesada/San Carlos ones run more often. If you go to http://thebusschedule.com, you will see the schedule. Some say, 1 change. This means you will change buses. If it doesn't say that, you will stay on the same bus. I did this once and we had a 30 break in Ciudad Quesada. If you get on this bus, the driver will give you a ticket if you paid for all the way to La Fortuna. Save this so you can get on the bus. There is actually a lot of good food in the bus terminal in the food court. The bathrooms are near the food court. Use those. They are the cleanest and free. There are other pay ones on the other end of the terminal.
