Difficult to say for certain- summer is considered to start around the 15th Dec so there can be benefits to traveling in the "shoulder" season to avoid the crowds. Trouble is that last November saw some really really REALLY bad weather!...

Hello! I am in the very early stages of planning a 10-12 day trip to Costa Rica. Is going in November a good or bad idea?

yes, that is what I was trying to do....so it is a gamble going to November.
Thanks!

I think you would be better off visiting sometime the first 2 weeks of December. You will get a better chance of weather, and still are avoiding the crowds and higher prices.

Your odds on that gamble vary depending on where in CR you go. Weather varies widely across microclimates.

the wife and I flew out Thanksgiving day and stayed 2+ weeks on pacific coast and had a great time it rained here and there but not a show stopper.plus flying out T.day there were'nt many people flying out and got low seanson ratesfor every place we stayed.
Spent one night in San Jose leaving and saw a great christmas parade.semi trailer sized floats.
But weatherwise it's a crapshoot.

Yep - it's a gamble, but at least it's rain & not snow : ). Last November was very wet, but so was early December (where I live anyway), but October was not as bad as usual. Honestly - I'd say flipping a quarter woulds be as good a way as any to decide, and resign yourself to the fact that you might have some rain. If you keep your plans flexible, you can always move around to a different part of the country, as someone else mentioned, there are many micro-climates through-out the country.
