We are taking a Windjammer out of Herradura in Oct and would like to know if it is possible to get a one way car rental in Costa Rica. There a 4 of us and would like to pickup a rental car in/near SJO airport and drop off in /near Herradura after doing a couple of days of touring. Think the drop off charge, if any, will be pricey?

Most car rental agencies will have drop off fees on their web sites. The more remote, the higher the fee.

Should be bewteen $30 and $75...depending on contract/agency.

I like Alamo and Mapache.

We will be doing the same thing in December -- a Windjammer cruise out of Herradura with a few days to kill before then. Please let us know how the car rental thing goes. Thanks!

I rent a car from National every year in San Jose (Best Western Irazu) and drop it in Jaco($2 taxi from Herradura) or sometimes the other way and there's never a drop off charge.
Check their site out.
Roger.

I used to stay at the Irazu 20 years ago when it was one of the best places in town to book day tours. There were two very busy tour companies working out of the lobby. I wouldn't recommend it anymore though. The rooms are kinda dumpy for the price. There's a great seafood restaurant next door beside the grocery store though

Thanks costarog....you helped answer my next question....how far and how much is it between Jaco and Herradura. With it being only a $2.00 taxi ride, it can't be far.
