Thanks for suggestions to my previous posts - much appreciated!
I am planning to head out to near Montezuma from San Jose, and then want to get to Osa (near Puerto Jimenez) before returning to San Jose - this is in mid-August. Ideally I'd rather not fly as I don't want to miss anything from the ground, but I don't know how to get from Nicoya to Osa without going back through San Jose - and I from what I've heard I'd rather spend my time outside of San Jose.
Can anyone recommend a way to get from Nicoya to Osa? My spanish is terrible, so I don't want to fiddle too much with local buses if I can help it, but I do have a little flexibility with time.
I'd love to do some kind of triangle, but don't know if its possible - it may even be a nightmare getting to San Jose from Osa by land for all I know. If I have to fly then I'll have to, but only if it's definitely the best option.
What do you think?

If you are in Nivcoya take the Puente de la Amistad->Limonal->Herradura->Dominical->Palmar Norte->Puerto Jimenez. From Montezuma it is better to take the ferry from Paquera->Puntarenas->Herradura->Dominical->Palmar Norte->Puerto Jimenez. San Jose is not on the route at all!?

The above routes are best, but almost 2 days travel no matter how you slice it, you can make Drake Bay in a day from Montezuma, but Pt Jiminez will be a stretch.
You say you do want to miss anything on the ground, but are you stopping along the way? If not, go to San Jose and fly In/OUT to Pt Jimenez/Corcovado.
Otherwise, just from Montezuma, water taxi to Jaco, bus to Quepos, and bus to Palmur Norte. That about 7 hours if all goes well.
Not sure what and when the last bus is from P-Norte to Pt Jimenez...
most likely early afternoon.
Another option is to head to Golfito, and water taxi to Pt Jimenez, or even Matalapo for Carate and southern entrance.

I thought Montezuma was on the Nicoya peninsular - shows how much I know! I didn't think San Jose was on the way but all the searching I'm doing brings me back to there. And to be honest I'd rather miss it seeing as I'm flying in and out of there.
Thanks for your advice. Are they local bus routes you refer to? Are they easy to organise?
