Can anyone recommend a good meeting spot in Liberia, Costa Rica. I'm theoretically going to arrive around 1pm tomorrow and have to meet a friend ... somewhere. any ideas? convenient coffee shop that's neither really expensive or foul ? what's parque central like? I'd really like somewhere like a small square with shade or with a view of a nice building (also with shade) and centrally convenient so we can get out quick if we want.

thanks

Until someone comes up with something better, I would suggest the open sided restaurant at Hotel El Bramadero. No tranquil view, except of the PanAmerican Highway, but it is centrally located, real close to the bus station and everyone knows where it is. On the upscale side sort of for Liberia but just order a beer, sip really slow and wait for your friend to show up

Pick a corner of the Parque Central. It's ugly as hell, but safe and convenient. You could try Hotel Liberia too - it's a block and a half off the square, and they are really friendly. Or grab an Imperial at the Chinese place (Restaurante Elegante) across from Hotel Liberia.

I love Liberia. I met the most mouth-wateringly gorgeous Tica from there, on the bus from Canas to Liberia. I should've stayed there and settled and raised little Tico brats and opened a dive shop on the beach. Actually, I met lots of Ticas in Liberia during the nearly two weeks I crashed there - they kind of adopted me for the duration of my stay, and made me feel special.

No tim, they weren't hookers either.
