Lafortuna to Tortuguero

You have 4 choices (that I know of...there may be more):

1. Get back to San Jose and catch a flight. ($$$$)

2. Contact a private shuttle company/tour agency to arrange transit ($$$)

3. Get back to San Jose and catch the morning bus to Cariari from the Caribe Terminal in San Jose. In Cariari, you catch a local bus to the ferry terminal. Then a small launcha ride through the canals to Tortuguero. Arrive by 3-4pm. The launcha ride through the canals is spectacular! Loads of wildlife and beautiful scenery.

4. From La Fortuna, catch a southbound bus headed in the direction of Puerto Limon. Get off at the turnoff for Cariari (look at a map to find out the name of the turnoff/town). Transfer to a bus to Cariari. Follow the above directions from there.

In addition to #1 good advice, If you arrange river rafting on the Rio Paqaure, they can shuttle you between the points, depending on day of week and what other request are at the time. FYI- its about 4 hours from LA Fortuna to SJ area, and another 3 hours to Boats to Tortuguero, and then another 1 hour via boat, so its a long day, nothing is too easy or quick when it comes to going cross country in CR.
