If you are planning on being in the area during that weekend you may want to reserve your hotel before hand. If you are in Puerto Viejo you should try to catch some of the festival. It will be a great opportunity to experience some of the Caribbean culture that you might not otherwise be exposed to just visiting the area.

Of course, you could stay in Cahuita too. The festival should be a lot of fun. It is the biggest Calypso festival in Central America with local and international acts performing. It was well-attended last year, with lots of people up and dancing to the music. The food's great to with plenty of spicy Caribbean rice and beans and rondon for sale.
