Me and a friend are on no time schedule but we are on a budget. We're in the Corcovado national park area. It's definitely less developed here than other areas of the country we've been to so far. We're wanting to do something non-beach related since we've done that for a good while. Any ideas?? Thanks!
Take public transport to Cabo Matapalo (at 6 am). Yes, more beach but go there to look for wildlife. Lots of animals in that area. Just walk up and down the road. Maybe hike to the waterfall.
Contact Jungle Hostel Bolita in Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre. If they have room go stay there for a few days. The hostel is in the middle of the jungle. You have to hike 30 minutes and wade through a river to get there. Take food. No refrigeration. They have amazing trails to a viewpoint, a valley, waterfalls and through a jungle river. You will meet gold miners. You will see lots of birds and also other animals. Amazing rainforest. If they have no room go to Dos Brazos anyway. The trails are free if you are staying at Bolita but if you are not you can pay $8 to get access to them. Just ask when you contact them. They have an office in Dos Brazos. Check out their website and read it carefully. You can take a bus there at 11 am on weekdays ($4) or a taxi ($20). That information is also on the website:

Dos Brazos also has a swimming hole.

A lot of the lodging around Puerto Jiménez provide free kayaks, go paddle and fish in the bay, it's a blast and the fishing is excellent. Paddle into the mangroves and check out all the wildlife. The coast line west of PV is beautiful, nice beach walking, birding and swimming, water in nice and warm.
The town of PV isn't that great, Golfito across the bay is kind of cool, easy ferry ride and a good refuge just outside.
You have to be kidding me. Why are you at the doorstep of Corcovado and asking what to do? You don't go there for the beaches...
You can kayak the bay north of the dock for the boats to Golfito for a start, just ask any outfitter in town.
You can hike Corcovado 21KM to Sirena (Permits/Guide Required), then hike to Carate. (3 days).
You can collectivo down to Matalapo as hove suggest, though its remote and mainly a surf beach.
Or Collectivo to Carate and hike from La Leona into park as a day trip or to Sirena and over night and return (guide/permit required).
You can get a boat to Golfito and then a boat to Playa Zancudo and surf.
Why did you go to Pt Jimenez?
