I have a few questions on transport.

1) Two of us have a departing flight at 1.30 pm from SJO on coming X'mas day. I am wandering whether to travel to San Jose on 24th and stay the night or stay in MA and leave on 25th morning. What's the best advice?

2) I believe there is a shuttle bus every 2 hours leaving MA for SJO. Would someone know when the first shuttle departs?

3) Do we need to plan with extra caution because of the holiday?

Any helpful information would be much welcome.

Cheers

You need to be at SJO at least 2 hours prior to International Departure, Check In will close 1 hour prior flight. You need to allow an extra 1 hour for traffic/delays, and its a 3.5 hour drive. So you need to leave first thing in the morning, to be there by 11-11:30...

You can check with your lodging for what shuttles you can use and the schedule. Figure $55 PP for the trip.

Interbus & Grayline are most popular.

Depending what day Xmas falls on, if its a weekend, allow extra time for sure. I also don't know about shuttle services being normal for Xmas day either. Xmas eve could also be a issue, as most people there spend time with family and go to Church that afternoon evening.

Hi mrmoto,

Thanks for the information. Decided to make a change in plans and go to Tamarindo instead of MA. The flight out of Liberia is at 2.30pm on X'mas day and I think finding a shuttle to the airport in the morning will be easier compared to the earlier plan.
