You can drive up to the beach in Dominical and Pinuella. I haven't seen anyone drive on the beach and probably isn't allowed. Drove on the beach at South Padre years ago..it was great.

Yes you can drive on the beach, but most rental contracts forbid it, FYI.

Also, having 4x4 with a Low gear can come in handy in the deep and soft stuff, more common in Nosora and Brasilto, the sand on the Big Sur from Dominical to the mangroves south of Ojochal is pretty fine and compact.

Speaking of Ojochal, I really like that town and area, very shady and peaceful, with a laid back vibe, reminded me of Playa Punta Uva area in some ways, the flowering hedges, hilly two lane roads on the ocean, and few if any people, much less tourist.

Playa Bellena is nice too....plan a picnic for your snorkel adventure here, and try to go at low tide, as there are sand bars and more reef to swim just above and calmer seas as well. BYO water and shade, and enjoy...
