San Jose, El Pueblo bars, and the University in San Pedro, will have plenty of local Ticas, but without spanish your not going to get too far. Not to mention, hot local girls are everywhere, but they are also traditional, and may not want anything to do with a Gringo.

Its hard to tell who is a part timer and who is out for fun, but you will know as soon you ask to leave with them, they will name their price, as Prostitution is legal, and if your both bombed and go home, and the next morning she wants $60, pay up buddy, its the least you can do.

Late September is the rainy wet season, so your best bet weather wise, if a tropical depression is not in the Atlantic, will be the Caribe coast.

Otherwise, the NW area, near Tamarindo and Coco.

If you have wheels, hit Arenal, go river rafting, take surf lessons, and dont drive at night.

They do not have Jeeps in CR, but at least get a Rav 4 or similar....safe and comfy.

Dont leave anything in car ever, and go out at night with copy of Passport, money for the evening, and maybe 1 CC. Be leery of drug dealers and hookers that no its your 1st time, especially in Jaco and San Jose.

For a good entree to CR, get the MOON guidebook, or the LP.

Get Typhoid, Dyptheria and Tetnus Booster.

Hep A and for Sure Hep B (start now, takes 6 months), if your sexually active, Hep B is a must.

"Hot local girls to party with" have been warned about guys like you since they put on their first pair of flip flops. Dream on.

thx ticotim, its a toss up between CR, Cuba and Hawaii. The weather is a huge issue as it rains approx 300 days a year where I'm from and I'm trying to get away from this and enjoy the rays for 2 wks. When is the best time to vacation in CR?

Costa Rica is absolutely a sex tourist destination. You don't have to agree that it is a good thing or a bad thing, but it's indisputable. I just talked to a couple of guys yesterday that have been coming down once or twice a year for the last 6 years. The purpose of their trips is to fish and in the evenings sample the local working girls. That is not uncommon at all. There are even web sites that promote planned iteneraries for sampling the working girls in different areas of the country. As an expat living here pgincr, you are the only one deceiving people here.

I agree boomer. Maybe Cinthya should get together with tree house and start their own travel forum to promote their businesses. Most of their postings offer very little advise and it's obvious they just do it so the link to their business websites get into the thread.

hey goodfella, ticotim said it all.(everynow and then he gets somthing right) as far as costa rica being a sex tourist destination is false. it used to be a few years ago but not so much anymore. its all about parks and family type things now. while prostitution is legal there it is mostly found in san jose or jaco. for those who think it still is one of those type of destinations go to the dominican republic or angels city philippine,s. or maybe thailand (fill us in tim lol ) all things aside costa rica is loaded with singlle female travelers. check out any youth hostel the gals outnumber the guys 8 to one you guys haveing a car will be popular i am sure with the backpacker crowd. don
