American Airlines either has a glitch, or its my lucky day, but I booked a ticket Aug 28 to Sept 3 for $189, plus tax is $268, Chicago to DFW to SJO and SJO to MIA to Chicago. From NYC LGA, via MIA, is $279 plus tax....

Hope this helps some people....

I did not check othe Centro American places like Managua and Panama City etc...

We've had guests from Miami and back to SJO with Spirit for $40. Lost their luggage for 24hrs another $40 for taxi. If you find that price with them just fly with carrying bag.

With all that extra CASH...you can always make a donation at the Hotel Del Rey in one of those 2 legged slot machines! Question: Is it better to book early or last minute for your departure date...to get a great ticket price? Or doesn't matter? I have been booking 6 months early and been doing great on ticket prices compared to other travelers. Lately ticket prices to fly out of my area here in Wyo, are way too HIGH for Panama! Thought I might try last minute booking this time?

Polaris1000,

Booking early or late isn't the key you've just got to have an eye on the fares. When Frontier (good for southern Wyo if you fly out of Denver International) announced their new service my wife and I got tickets for this December for $253 round trip including all taxes and it's a DIRECT flight from Denver so we don't even have to worry about them losing our bags. Not bad for high season.

Thanks for the info "costaricaguide" my options are really limited out of Casper, but Delta has treated me pretty fare with price the last 3 times to Central America. I have stayed with Delta for the hassel factor, switching airlines meens switching terminals easier to make my next connection on time going with one company the entire trip. Frontier might be coming back here, they have pulled out a number of times over the years. Frontier doesn't goto Costa Rica or Panama do they?

Polaris1000 Frontier has just started direct flights (well started selling anyway, the first flight isn't until Nov. 30) from Denver to SJO. Five hours and thirty minutes and forget about picking up bags, clearing customs, re-checking bags and hanging out in Houston/Atlanta/LA/Miami for three hours.

They're the ones flying us down so cheap in December...
