Hey, i am 18 and have a 10 week gap year project set in costa rica and nicaragua next year. I am considering making the most of my being on the continent and travelling a bit for a week or more. The states is a possibility I thought.

Could anyone give me ideas as to how easy/hard it could be, and how to go about it transport and accomodation wise.

Thank you for your help.

You would need to fly to the United States, with just a week. A bus from Nicaragua thru 4 countries with Mexico being huge, would take a week oneway looking thru a bus window 24/7.

Head to Nicaragua, or possibly find a flight ton Guatemala for the ruins and Mayan world, the main highlight of the CA region.

Mexico clearly gets in the way if you were considering an overland route. That said look out for great deals on flights out of San Jose, Costa Rica. Carriers like Spirit Air will have you in Miami in a couple of hours and you can be cruising the everglades or South Beach in no time.
