The pedestrian mall on Aveneda Central has plenty of shopping options but most goods are imported and probably more expensive than what you can find at home

Yes Escazu and San Pedro, but I like more the little shops on Avenida Central.

I agree, I like the smaller venues as well, but if your in need of more name brand or higher end stuff, the malls tend to have a good selection, like in America, Tommy Hillifger and Boss and Polo are are about tops there....

On Avinda Central, you can get everything as above, and Puma, Addidas, Billabong etc....and the people watching is more fun. The Central Mercado market at the end is a favorite for stuff like backpacks, shoes, nets, ceramics etc...and you can bargain there.

The food area in the market is great, Ceviche with big shrimp for $4.

Plenty of shops as above but not much you'll want that you can't get cheaper/same price back home.
