Hi, I have a 3.5 week solo trip in July August in the process of being finalised. The plan on arrival in San Jose is the shuttle to Manuel Antonio, 3 days there then a shuttle to Sierpe and the boat to Drake Bay. I have 9 days booked to stay in the hostel, and then the plan is to boat back to Sierpe, shuttle back to SJ, night in a hotel before the shuttle to Puerto Viejo, and basing myself there for 9 days. Just about got everything sorted but I am having doubts about the 3 days in MA based on what folk have said here about it, very touristy etc etc, but its handy for the shuttles. I am thinking about adjusting my plans, one night stopover in MA, then two nights in Uvita, but Im not so sure about the transport to Sierpe. Any advice would be welcome. Thank you

You can get to Sierrpe via bus to Palmar Sur/Norte, then a bus to Sierrpe, or a taxi hire. There is Shuttle Osa from Jaco or Quepos/MA to Sierrpe.

9 days in Drake Bay? That is 5 days too many. There is no town there, its all lodges and its spread out on foot paths, or lodges reached via boat, there is no road either, so not sure why would go there for 9 days.

Yes, Uvita/Bellena and or Dominical, over MA..

What about going from DB to Palmar Sur to San Isidro de General, then to San Gerrado/La Amistad and hike Chirrpo? Then from there, bus to Cartago>SJ>Guapliles> Pavona>Tortuguero...

In response to #1

Thanks for your reply. I'm arriving in DB on a Friday afternoon and travelling back on the Monday week, I want to be in DB long enough to enjoy the tours I have booked as well as plenty of chill time. I am going from there to PV to visit my son. I see you name here often, so your advice is much appreciated; I am thinking then the first night in MA and then travel down to Uvita for a couple of days before travelling to Sierpe, do you have knowledge of the buses to get me to Uvita from MA, and from Uvita to Sierpe?

For getting to Uvita, then a bus going to/from Dominical-Palmar Norte/Sur

For getting to/from Sierrpe, you need to get to Palmar Norte/Sur

Shuttles and possibly busses, as well as taxis meet the boats in Sierrpe.

You can also fly to and from and SJ to Palmar Sur, or Drake Bay.

You also can fly from Quepos to Palmar Sur on Nature Aire.

BTW- I don't know if a bus passing between Dominical and Palmar would only stop at road to Uvita, or, go into Uvita, which is about 2KM down a road to the coastal village. I would have no qualms hitching from bus dropping you at turn off into town...
