Thanks for the money advice already posted. I will have some 20s with me. But, for emergency purposes, I carry several hundred in a leather money belt that holds up my pants - I also have the 'traveler's one as a decoy. Recently the US started producing 'monopoly' money $100 bills - big letters/blue color. Hey Gang - I'm traveling alone from San Ignacio, Belize to Tikal in a few weeks and am having a hard time finding shared transport to tag along with.

I didn't want to buy an overnight tour to Tikal since I'm creating my own agenda when I get there and I assumed finding shared transport would be fairly easy. So far...wrong. None of the companies I've contacted have transportation available on those days.

This may be a stupid question, but I have been going through our guidebook and am trying to budget how much money my fiance and I will have for our honeymoon. In Costa Rica hostel's charged per person, which wasn't a big deal because we were sleeping in a communal room and it was fairly cheap. In Belize do they charge per room or per person? On this trip to Belize, I'd actually like to spend a couple of nights in Belize City. Everyone's idea of a good hotel is different, of course. I'd very much appreciate recommendations from people who have had good experiences in the past year or so at Belize City hotels which meet or come close to all of the following criteria:

Walking distance of the main tourist sites
Rooms clean, quiet, and air conditioned
