Sure, you'll be able to get buses.

You know that there are no buses that run from the airport? (You can go the 2 miles out to the Northern Highway and catch a bus into town there, or you can take a taxi into town, US$25).

Buses from Belize City to San Ignacio are around BZ$6 or $7. They are frequent. More than one an hour during the day.

My fiance' and I are planning a trip to Jamaica and/or Belize this winter and would like to know if there's any new information on getting to either of these countries from the other. I've been doing some searching and haven't found anything that connects these two countries! I find that so odd! Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

Also, if I were to nix one of these countries, which one would it be? What are the pro's / con's of Belize and Jamaica?
Our trip will be about two weeks.

Gracias,

I've just heard the very sad news that Peter Eltringham, author of Rough Guide Belize, passed away last week, after a long battle with cancer. I knew Peter quite well, and am in touch with his family. If anyone would like to pass on any messages, I'll pass them on. The funeral is this Friday.

I think even Lan will agree that Peter's work in Belize was inspirational, this tiny nation could never have asked for a more passionate, authoritative or dedicated spokesman.

Planning on spending the Christmas holiday on Caulker and need some good accommodation suggestions.

My goal is “clean but cheap-ish” I don’t need a fancy pool or anything, but defiantly on the beach, so I am guessing around $50-65 a night.

Just me, so no kiddies to worry about either.

Thanks guys!

FODOR’S CHOICES IN BELIZE

“Fodor’s Choice,” the highest possible rating in the Fodor’s travel guides, means that a place, hotel or restaurant is “so wonderful that its worthiness is obvious” or “so unique that superlatives don’t do it justice.” In the case of hotels and restaurants, the Fodor's Choices are not necessarily the most deluxe properties; rather, they are places of special appeal regardless of price.

Places, hotels and restaurant can also receive a Highly Recommended rating…

I have spent time in Costa Rica, mostly in the Corcovado area. I am looking for something similar in Belize. Not the same, or I would go back to Corcovado...what I am looking for is a remote jungle lodge, or area and I can look up lodges myself. Water is preferable, rivers or ocean, it doesn't matter. My husband and I like the peace of not having a lot of other tourists to deal with, interesting birds and wildlife, and the feeling of being 'hidden' away for a week or two. We are willing to…

I'm going to Cancun in a few weeks and I was wondering if anybody knows about how long it takes to ride a bus from there to Belize City. And also about how much it costs.
