Planning to go in Belize. We've never been there before, so we have a lot of questions:
* How safe is it? What areas should we stay away from?
*Any recommendations for places to stay? We prefer to stay at a 4-star hotel/resort or something similar.
*Any recommendations on tour operators?
*How is the weather there between July and August?
Thank you so much for all your help...comments from your personal experience are much appreciated!

Can anyone tell me (or tell me where to find) the schedule of boats leaving P.B/Livingston for P.G? Also how much it costs. Thanks

How difficult (and costly) is it to get from Punta Gorda to New Haven Bay? We'll be in PG in August, and I thought it might be cool to do this as a day trip. From what I can see on Google Maps, it appears the beach is really nice and there even seems to be some sort of settlement. I'm also interested because the other New Haven is my hometown.

So my new hubbie and I had thought that we would take a quick trip down to Belize for our honeymoon but family is crazy right now and we just can't get away. Plan B is New Years on Caulker, what could be better? But that time of year on the island is going to be busy so we want to get our trip planned and booked ASAP so we have plenty of choices.

I've cruised the internet and came up with quite a few people who are renting houses and lots of hotels that have houses or condos...so many. Has…

taxis

myself and another couple backpacked all over nicaragua this jan-feb and used taxis as our preferred way of travel. three hour trips cost us about $20 each. we are returning to belize the end of june and we are wondering if such an option would be open for us. would the cost of taxis be within this price range? we would be interested in doing so from belize city to san ignacio, from san ignacio to hopkins, hopkins to palencia, palencia to punta gorda. one of us has a neck injury and cannot do…

My wife, a couple of friends and myself are planning a trip to Belize in August. The idea is to plop ourselves down in the PG area and spend a week exploring.

We were originally planning to take a puddle-hopper from BC to PG, but I did a little research and it seems to make more sense to rent an SUV and drive down. The rental would then be available for further explorations, another perk.

My understanding is that the Hummingbird Highway is pretty good driving, but I'm not sure it extends all…

I'm intereted in visiting the Mayan ruins of Caracol. Is there any prospect of getting there by public transport? (or at least for less than the price quoted by Mayawalk Tours in San Ignacio - $80 per person). Do you still need an armed escort? Any info appreciated.

we are thinking of throwing together a quick to trip down to Caulker for the end of may or early june. Just wondered what this time of year was like on the island.... Are most of the hotels open? How about restaurants? We don't mind missing the crowds, but we don't exactly want to visit a ghost town either.

thanks!

Hi all. I'll be in Belize from the end of next week for about a week and am tossing up where to spend my time.

I am a 29yo Oz male, single (hetro), travelling solo and want to be able to get to some of the best dive sites Belize has to offer during the day while being able to meet people and get out and about at night.

What are your recommendations?

If you have any good recommendations regarding accom and dive operations, this would be most appreciated.

PS - not too fussed about where I stay…

Hi all, I've looked around some on this info but have not found anything. My wife and I are staying at caye caulker over the weekend in late June. we are most likely bringing our own snorkeling masks so we don't have to go through renting when we feel like hitting the reef. Is there any place on caye caulker where decent snorkeling is on the beach or reachable by kayak. we don't want to hire a boat each time. We treat the weekend as our lazyish downtime, so we don't want to take taxis and boats…
