My Girlfriend and I are looking at starting our trip in San Ignacio for several days before making our way to Caulker Caye. I have checked out several places on-line but looking for recommendations. So far looking at either Martha's Guesthouse in town - seems solid for price or Chaa Creek Resort, seems like something special, but a lot of money. Don't really want to do the River camp at Chaa Creek.

Any Advice? Also looking at Pacz for adventures - any suggestions?

Hi All,

I will be spending some time in July doing research on an island off Dangriga, Belize. Either during or after my time on that island, I would like to get south to an island about 20 km north of Punta Gorda (Wild Cane Cay). It appears to be about a 90 km boat trip, but I looked into boat hire, and the fee was prohibitive. I'd like ideas on what the most cost effective way to get out to Wild Cane Cay from Dangriga might be. I don't have a lot of extra time on this trip. Any advise would…

Hi,

I am traveling for 2-1/2 weeks in Guatemala in late June and will be in Tikal. Since Guatemala doesn't really have any real snorkeling or Caribbean beaches (traveling with kids, so want to avoid Pacific's waves), it seemed like an easy hop to Southern Belize, then an easy boat trip back to Livingston or Puerto Barrios.

If there's no good snorkeling in PG, where would be the nearest affordable snorkeling. (Hoping for 1 day snorkeling and 1 day beaches.) Don't want to break the bank, though.

Hi all,
My girlfriend and I are traveling into Belize from southern Mexico later this year. We are meeting my parents and looking for a nice combination of relaxation and history. We are wondering where the best places to visit are which could accomodate both their budget (a bit more) and ours (shoestring to say the least) while supplying some relaxation and culture. Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone know the current departure tax for leaving Belize? I heard about US$20 if you leave via land. There's a boat company on the Cayes which is trying to tell me that if I leave by boat to Chetumal with them then the departure tax is only around US$5. Anyone have any input on this matter? Thanks.

I'm likely going to rent a car for most of a 10 day trip to Belize later this year. I'm hoping to stay at La Milpa, and then drive to Chaa Creek. Is the road straight south of La Milpa to San Igancio passable? Otherwise it looks to be a 6 to 6.5 hour drive around the east side (back through Burrell Boom) and then west again. And any general advice (which companies besides the big ones like Budget) on care rentals is welcome too. Thanks,
dave

Hi!!
I am planning on taking my honeymoon in Belize but I am having a hard time figuring out where to stay. I want to spend some of time just relaxing on the beach but I want to go see some of the Mayan ruins. Does anyone have any advice on which part of Belize to stay. I was thinking of the Placencia area but it seems far from most of the ruins.
Thanks!!!

Hey guys, doing a visa run to renew my C4 Tourist visa in the beginning of June. After a stop in Livingston/rio dulce I'll be catching the Friday morning boat from Livingston to Punta Gorda, and from there the Bus to Belize city.

Since I'll be getting to the city around 6pm or so, I wont be able to catch a boat to Cay Culker (as I would prefer) so it looks as though my girlfriend and I will be looking for a place in the city for the night.
Given the thread I just read a couple pages back about…

Can anyone recommend a good adventure trip in Belize. We are two women, going alone. Very active. Would love horseback riding, tubing, snorkling, etc. About 7 to 10 days, no kids, please. Some look very expensive, we don't want to spend a fortune ideas?
Thanks in advance!!

Thanks
