My wife and I are arriving at the Belize City Airport around noon next april, and thanks to Hopefulist have gotten a good plan to cover the 8 days we are traveling there. There are a few unsolved areas that I could use some help with.

Does anyone have a hotel in the $60-80 range they like in Dangriga?

I will be in the Rio Dulce area of Guatemala and am considering visiting Punta Gorda for one or two days. I would like to know what people think of it. What gets my back up would be the border fees...I hate to pay to leave a country (Guatemala by boat, the Belize fees ).

I was in Belize once before and like it. Do you think PG is worth a visit?

We just returned from an awesome return trip to Belize after last vistiting 18 years ago.
We rented a car from Crystal Auto Rental and drove to Martha's Guesthouse in San Ignacio for a wonderful night. Next morning drove over the border to Tikal. It took a bit of time getting through with the car but no big deal. We stayed at the Jaguar Inn in Tikal, where I have stayed 5 times previously. Great lodging but meal service was super slow. Me and my girlfriend will be spending a week in Belize on caye caulker in may. We want to spend a day exploring the Altun Ha ruins. Whats the best and cheapest way to do this? Are there any good tours we could do? We would also be very open to doing it by ourselves. What are the bus schedules like? Are we able to snag a daily bus route out there or something?

I understand there is some concern about crime in Placenica. I live here half the year and feel very, very safe. I live in a comparably small town in the States the other half of the year. I'm planning a trip to Belize shortly, and looking at the Placencia area, more because of the beaches. I've also been reading the new latest Lonely Planet on Belize. They mentioned that crime has increased in Placencia, and I'm wondering how much a concern it is to leave cameras and laptops in hotel rooms. Any other comments, positive or negative, would be appreciated, thank you. I don't mind a bit of touristy action, but somewhere like Ambergris Caye would be a little overkill, I believe.

Hello...I have 12 days in Belize, which is not nearly enough. I'm trying to get in a good mix of chill beach time, water sports, and culture, without winding up in resort places or pushing too quick along. Thank you!!! :)

I plan on taking the ADO night bus from Belize City to Cancun tomorrow night. Does this bus get full quickly? Should I get advance tickets? If so, can I do this online? Otherwise, how early should I go to the terminal? Reason I ask is because I will be taking a late water taxi from caulker and cutting it close to bus departure time. Thanks!
