Hi All,

We are travelling to Florida (from Sydney) and then we would like to head down into Belize around 2nd week of April, 2009 probably Easter.

Where could a family of four (2 boys - 9 and 11) see beaches, culture, ruins and snorkelling for 7 days in Belize?

Thanks.

Nigel

You're wise to start planning ahead - Easter is the busiest time of the year in Belize, especially in the beachy areas. You could split your time between the western area (hiking, caving, canoing, ruins including Tikal over the border in Guatemala) and either Placencia or one of the cayes. You might also start reading and searching on the Belize Forum - great travel resource. Keep us posted!

reading a guide book would be a big help. i certainly wouldn't visit australia without reading one.

Go to Caye Caulker for 3 or 4 nites and spend the other nites some where near San Ignacio on the Guatemala border. You can even catch a tour to Tikal from there for the day. LOTS of places to stay but do make your reservations if it's going to be over Easter.
Placencia was always my favorite but the snorkeling from there is bad since Iris went through several years ago and they are in the middle of a huge building boom. Too much for me!!! Ambergris Caye is too busy, lots of people everywhere crowded beach front down town. Caye Caulker is just right.

Hi,

Much appreciated for your reply and information.

I can do some further research on the places you have advised.

What currency do they use in Belize? - USD?

Regards,

Nigel
