Hi there,

With the end of our world trip coming close, we are looking for a nice place to get married and Caye Caulker sounds nice. We don´t want a big typical wedding, just something intimate with just the 2 of us on a beach somewhere, nothing arranged by a wedding planner or anything. It´s not such a problem that the wedding is not legal in our home country because we will get married at home again anyhow. So who can help us with the following questions...

  • Any idea who can do the wedding ceremony?
  • Does anybody know a good photograher living here, or, if any good traveller photographers are here around the end of November, just give a yell.
  • I assume it will be easy to find someone who can make us look the best we have ever have and make us a nice flower bouquet...
  • Any suggestions on what beach would be a nice place?
  • Accommodation - restaurant (small intimate) worth a little splurge?

Other suggestions or tips are more than welcome... we have never been here so we dont really know what to expect. Thanks for all the help guys!

I'd suggest posting this also on some of the Caye Caulker forums. There's a section of the www.ambergriscaye.com forum devoted to Caulker, and quite a few Caulker residents post there.

I'm not sure about a wedding photographer on Caye Caulker, but if nothing else San Pedro is only 30 minutes and US$7.50 away by water taxi, and there are several excellent wedding photographers there.

Haberneros might be a good choice for an upscale, somewhat intimate restaurant, depending on when you're there. Rose's is small and excellent though not intimate. Several of the island's better restaurants are closed right now for low season.

Lots of great places to stay, depending on your budget. If you want to splurge for a swimming pool and some luxury, but still affordable, you could look at the new CayeReef Condos, also Seaside Cabanas, Iguana Reef Inn and Caye Caulker Condos.

Note that the island currently is in shock over the murder a few days ago of a popular island resident, Tropic Air's station manager. Hopefully, this will motivate some changes in the police on Caulker.

Here's the name of a photography studio on Caye Caulker...
Caye Photography, phone: (501) 226-0069.

They might know someone who can perform the ceremony. I have a couple of names of people, but they don't live on Caye Caulker.

Florasol can make a professional bouquet. They also do complete wedding coordinations, so will probably be able to answer all your questions.

Also, have you seen the information on the Belize Tourist Board's site:

Thanks for the tips!
@rooster245... well not a typical wedding in that sence that it will only be the 2 of us. After the ceremony not a huge party but a nice dinner on the beach...

my intuition tells me that wasnt exactly what rooster was looking for. i believe he is referring to the kind of irregular wedding that's not legal everywhere. he's a nosy sonofabitch - likes to make trouble.

Hey there,

I have a really cute Beach House in Caye Caulker with just one Suite upstairs to rent. It's a beautiful one bed/bath Suite with private balcony and amazing views of the Caribbean Sea. Very very romantic and pefect for newlyweds. We also have a bar/lounge downstairs with a Caye Caulker's only healthy "sandwicherie/cafe" attached, on the beachfront.
Check out our website www.paradisobelize.com or email me direct beata@paradisobelize.com. We'd love to have you...

Cheers,

Beata

Hi

My wife and I got married on Caulker in 2008. Our minister was a really great guy by the name of Margarito Cu. He handled the licence paperwork and save up a trip to Belize city. We had great photographer by the name of Lee Vanderwalker, but she is not on CC any longer. We had a fantastic, very reasonably priced three course wedding dinner for 8 people at Wish Willy's. If you go down to the Lazy Lizard and ask for Maurice he will help you get things set up. I don't think I would hire a wedding planner. Everybody on the island knows everybody else. We just asked around and talked to a few people and set it up ourselves. Good luck!

Hello

If you are looking for somewhere special to stay then you should check out Caye Caulkers latest addition CayeReef which is a lovely new beachfront boutique hotel with pool, rooftop jacuzzi and great views. Our manager Bobbi will I am sure be happy to answer any questions you have.

Agree with above posting that Wish Willy's (which is just behind CayeReef) is a great place for a very chilled out meal. You can find a link to Wish Willy's web site and a very brief outline of other eating places HERE.

There is a great wedding planner on the island who I am sure would be happy to advise you on any issues you are having difficulty with even if you are not going to use her. You can find a link to her web site HERE - wedding planner

Whatever you decide hope you have a great time and Good Luck!

I am Lee Vanderwalker and am back on Caye Caulker. I am splitting my time between Chetumal Mexico and Belize. here is a link to my flickr wedding photo site
I primarily work with Sally Gilham who is a wedding planner on Caye Caulker, (and anyone else interested in hiring me.)
I think the poster who inquired got married today. I didn't shoot the wedding, I shot yesterday and I don't do back-to-back dates.
